Don’t Color Me In
Letting poetry speak to the hearts and minds of our young African American teens
Poetry is one of the greatest forms of art by our African American people. I have always loved reading black authored poems and creating them as well. They allow me to visit places in my mind and soul, that remind me so many times of my yearning to stay connected to my own history. Poems can be fun, sad, challenging, a call to action, and so much more.
Each poem connects with the reader for engagement as they are asked two questions about relatable topics. It allows for critical thinking while allowing that process to help them write out their thoughts on the next page.
This book fits ages 11-16 yrs. old
